Information 5 of the school management from 16.03.2020 on the Corona Virus
The announcement made late last Friday evening that our schools will have to discontinue classroom teaching as of today, Monday 16 March 2020, has been met with sympathetic feedback by the majority of parents, for which we would like to take this opportunity to expressour sincere thanks. However, we were also asked a few clarification questions, which we answer in a separate appendix to this letter for all to see.
In its press conference today, 16 March 2020 at 5 p.m., the Federal Council declared a nationalemergency to combat the Corona Virus Pandemic, which will apply from midnight tonight until at least 19 April 2020, and is linked to further restrictive measures.
In order to provide our children with adequate education despite the massive restrictions, we and our employees today organised the launch of distance learning and digital homework distribution. Emergency care has also been provided, which is reserved for a limited number of parents who are dependent on care due to specific activities (hospital, pharmacy, basic services, public services).
For KG and PS, the following structure applies with immediate effect: a home learning package is sent out every day via Google Classroom, twice a week in German, twice in English and once in French. Whenever possible, the children's work is also sent back to the school digitally (as adocument, a scan, an image file, etc.). Where this is not possible for any reason, the results can also be physically returned to the school once a week (always on Wednesday!) via homework folder. Boxes are provided at two locations where the folders can be deposited. The location for the children's house is the covered passageway to the garden, between the children's houseand the garage, for the school the location is in the covered external staircase down to the dining room on the ground floor.
Each child already has a homework folder; a second one will be sent to him or her by us in the next few days. One folder is always at home with the child, the other one for corrections and necessary refilling at school. The results will be corrected and if necessary sent home again for correction. The exchange of the portfolios always takes place on Wednesday afternoons between 13:00 and 17:00. Please put the folder you bring into the IN box of your child's level. You will find the folder you are collecting in the OUT box of your child's level.
Children of both schools who are admitted to emergency care will be cared for in age-appropriate groups (pre-school and kindergarten in Kinderhaus Signaustr. 7 and pre/primary pupils in Schulhaus Signaustr. 9). All other locations remain closed! The emergency care will be open from tomorrow Tuesday, 17.03.2020, from 08:00 to max. 17:00 hrs. The children will bereceived in the respective building, provided they do not cough and/or have a fever.
Children in the emergency care will do the same level-related work and homework here on site in the mornings and under supervision as the children in the distance learning classes are delivered to their homes! After lunch, the remaining children in the afternoon emergency care have access to outdoor after-school care.
We thank all parents who show understanding for the measures taken to protect the weakest members of our society. We assure you that together with our teaching staff, who for safety reasons also only work in alternating shifts on site, we will do everything in our power to ensure that your children also receive a varied and instructive range of lessons in distance learning.
With kind regards

«Just as the best gym instructors and the best gym equipment alone fail to strengthen a child’s muscles, so too will teachers and a prepared environment alone fail to develop the spirit of a child. In both cases, it is the child’s own activity that leads to growth.»

At our Montessori day school, children aged from 3 months to 12 years find a trilingual learning environment where German, English and French are not taught but simply used (and therefore successfully acquired) in classes that
cross the age groups, and where children learn from each other as well as from the teachers.
An experienced and well-trained team takes pains to provide the best possible care and education for your child at all stages, with great dedication and a powerful motivation. In bright rooms, lovingly furnished and generously
supplied with Montessori materials, children find everything they need for their development at their current age.
In our photo gallery, you will gain some insight into the Children’s House and the School. Allow yourself to be carried away into an alternative educational world and see the unique service we offer for yourself – pictures will, after all, often say more than a thousand words.
Are you looking for a school place, and would you like to register your child at this Montessori School? Are you interested in coming here for a
morning visit, a work shadowing period or for training; would you like to register with one of our sections in the Children’s House or the Primary School? If so, you’ve found the right page.
Our two properties (the Primary School and the Kindergarten) are located at Signaustrasse 7 and 9 in Zurich, not far from the Stadelhofen station and Kreuzplatz. Thanks to our position close to the centre, we are very well served
by public transport. You can easily get to us by tram, bus and the Forchbahn, as well as by car.
